Supervisor Hoehmann Announces Historic Property Tax Cut

Residential Homeowners to Realize Nearly 2% Reduction in Much Need Property Tax Relief

(New City) – Supervisor George Hoehmann today announced that the proposed 2017 Clarkstown Town Budget will pass along savings to homeowners who will see a roughly 2% reduction in their property tax levy.  Commercial property tax levies will also be reduced.

“From day one, I have promised the people of Clarkstown that I would control and reduce government spending; and because of those efforts homeowners will see immediate benefits with the largest property tax decrease in recent history,” Supervisor Hoehmann said.  “I am proud of my Administration’s ability to bring necessary relief to our taxpayers—and we’re not done yet.”

The 2017 Property Tax cut is based on the median assessed home values and the first property tax cut since 2011, when the town reduced property taxes by a nominal 0.04%.  The 2017 Property Tax cut is the largest in over 30 years and each hamlet, as well as commercial properties, will see a reduction.

The 2017 Budget hearing will be held on November 9, 2017 at Town Hall.
