Efficiency Study of Clarkstown Police Department Complete
Highlights Reforms to Save Taxpayers $5.4 Million

(New City, NY) – Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann today announced the Bonadio Efficiency Study on the Clarkstown Police Department has been submitted to the Town Board. The report, which came as part of the Supervisor’s commitment to reduce costs to the taxpayer, proposes reform measures to save at least $5.4 million a year.

In his efforts to reform Town government, Supervisor George Hoehmann initiated a number of studies of various departments including the Clarkstown Police Department. Driven by department data, the Bonadio Report lays out a significant 10% cost reduction in the Police Department.

“From the beginning I promised the taxpayers that nothing is off the table and I would look for savings everywhere; and the Bonadio Report is welcomed news for Clarkstown Taxpayers. The report presents common sense reforms to achieve a minimum of $5.4 million dollars in annual savings without risking public safety,” said Supervisor George Hoehmann. “I look forward to working with the Town Board, the Police Department and the PBA to implement these reforms so that together, we can bring much needed relief to the taxpayers of our great town”.

Along with better overtime management and a reduction in mostly supervisory headcount through attrition, the report highlights that Clarkstown taxpayers pay more than their fair share of public safety by staffing the Regional Investigative Resource Center, more than all of the other Rockland County towns combined

The Town has scheduled a public presentation of the report for September 20th at 7:30pm in the Town Hall auditorium, 10 Maple Ave., New City.
