Clarkstown Honors Coach Michael Goetz, Father of Rockland County Lacrosse

(New City, NY) – Supervisor George Hoehmann proudly joined the Clarkstown Central School District in celebrating 50 years of lacrosse in Rockland County at a recent Clarkstown North High School lacrosse game.

In 1966, Clarkstown resident Michael Goetz introduced the sport of lacrosse to Clarkstown North High School. Coach Goetz has been an inspiration to thousands of players over the years; in fact, many of his players have gone on to coach at all levels and founded lacrosse programs across the country.

“It was a true honor to present Coach Goetz with a certificate and declare April 2, 2016 as Coach Goetz Day in the Town of Clarkstown,” said Supervisor Hoehmann.

“The sport of lacrosse has grown tremendously over the last fifty years,” concluded Hoehmann. “I was proud to recognize Coach Goetz for bringing the sport to Rockland County.”
