Town Clerk Announces Establishment Of State Marine Fishing Registry

In the State of New York’s adopted budget for 2011, the resident marine fishing license fee of $10 was eliminated.  The State has now established a mandatory Marine Registry for anyone wanting to fish for salt water species this season.   All individuals who want to fish for salt water species must now register under the Marine registry, at no cost.

At this point anyone who purchased a license, either lifetime or annual for the 2011 license year, does not need to register.  They have already been added to the registry.  Refunds for lifetime licenses are expected to be sent out by the DEC during this calendar year.  There are no provisions in the newly enacted legislation to refund other marine license fees.

Residents can register by calling the New York State DEC decal order line at 1-866-933-2257 or by visiting the Clarkstown Town Clerk’s Office or any other license issuing agent.  The State is in the process of establishing an online registry on their website,  Unfortunately, online registry is not available at this time.

Clarkstown Town Clerk Justin Sweet stated “I will continue to update residents on changes to the marine fishing registry and all important matters that come to my attention.  Please call my office at 845-639-2010 if you have any questions.”
